MIDHURST IN LIVING MEMORY

A history of the people by the people

An on-line archive of stories and memories of Midhurst and surrounding villages

Oral History is the collecting, recording and preservation of the personal experiences and observations of local people.

It takes the form of eye-witness accounts about the past, but can include more recent events and stories passed through the years.  While it is an invaluable way of preserving the knowledge and understanding of older people, it can also involve interviewing the younger generation.

Midhurst in Living Memory is our attempt to gather our own local history from those who were there.  It is developing into a valuable resource and is full of life and humour, joy and sadness and, more importantly, it is about US.

It has been a privilege to meet our interviewees and to be able to gather their memories for a permanent record of Midhurst in Living Memory.

We hope you enjoy your virtual visit to Midhurst Past and Present
