Lodsworth

A splendid sandstone village with an attractive main street including timber framed cottages. Lodsworth has a very long and thin parish stretching from the slopes of Blackdown to the north and to Graffham Common in the South. The ancient church of St Peter can be found down a small hilly lane to the south east of the village in a delightful location.  The modern stained glass window in the porch was designed by A E Buss and made by Goddard & Goddard.  The central figure (shown here) is St Nicholas, Patron Saint of children and sailors.  There is also St Peter’s Well nearby which was a place of pilgrimage in the Middle Ages.

Traditional home of the Hollist family, and with a pub (The Hollist Arms) to prove it, the village has a very active community and has become more recently well known for its award-winning, community based ‘village shop’ (The Lodsworth Larder).
