This hour-long talk will introduce the fascinating figure of Edward James, founder of West Dean College of Arts and Conservation in West Sussex. Although he saw himself primarily as a poet, James was a noted patron of the arts who supported some of the most prominent cultural figures of his day,

21 June: Quirky Sussex Traditions

This hour-long talk will be presented by a charity that gathers and shares traditions handed down by the people of Sussex.   Customs, crafts, arts, beliefs, songs and stories – almost forgotten, but brought to life in this engaging talk.

20 September: Pioneering Electric Railways

 Ian Gledhill presents a talk on the Magnus Volk Railway in Brighton, the oldest electric railway in the world. 

18 October: Brooklands Museum

 A guest speaker from the museum talks about the iconic race track, its history and famous drivers.
 

 

29 November: Advice about Scams

PCSO Richard Morley provides the latest advice from Sussex police on safety tips and information on how to avoid the criminals’ activity.  With detection rates plunging, prevention is the best option!

5 December: Christmas Celebration

The Midhurst Society Christmas Celebration will take place on 5th December in the Castle Room at the Walled Garden. The chance for a chat, a mince pie and drink. Tickets £10.
