21 November 2024 - Dr Peter Cooper-Davis - British Antarctic Survey

In his talk, Peter will take us on a journey to Antarctica - the world's remotest continent with no permanent population. Through the results of his scientific work and his personal experience of travelling to Antarctica, he will talk about how our changing climate and 'warm' ocean waters are impacting Antarctica's ice shelves - the floating extensions of the great Antarctic Ice Sheet - and causing global sea-levels to rise. While being many thousands of kilometers from the UK, what is happening in Antarctica will affect us all in the coming decades.
