High Sheriff of West Sussex

The High Sheriff of West Sussex for 2021-22 is Neil Hart DL.

Neil and his family moved to the village of Bepton just outside Midhurst 36 years ago. Neil was a partner in the regional firm of solicitors, Thomas Eggar. He was a corporate lawyer specialising in the affairs of businesses and their owners; he counted many Sussex businesses as his clients. He was Chairman of the firm for 10 years and retired in 2016.

Neil was Chairman of the Federation of Sussex Industries, the forerunner of Sussex Enterprise, a trustee of the Sussex Community Foundation, and a trustee of the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum. He is currently a trustee of the Endowment Fund for the Museum, and a director of the Midhurst Community Land Trust. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of the County in 2012.

Neil and Ros are keen sailors and have for many years been active members of the Itchenor Sailing Club, where Neil was Commodore until last year. In the winter they walk in the Downs.
