Strengthening of The Midhurst Society Committee

Local resident Thomas McGlashan will assist with the communication and outreach work of the Society. Thomas has a background in Marketing and Communication and is keen to utilise this experience to widen the reach of the work of the Midhurst Society.

Thomas, originally from the west coast of Scotland, commented: “I moved to
Midhurst from London in 2016 and enjoy everything the town has to offer including walks, equestrian activities and community events. I look forward to helping the Society in the coming months.”

And another local resident, Gill Stoker, replaces Harvey Tordoff as Treasurer. Gill said:
I am a newcomer to Midhurst and my husband and I are so glad that we decided to make it our home. We were delighted to find that there is a Midhurst Society and we didn’t hesitate to join. My background is in administration so I am very happy to be asked to take on this role. I am very much looking forward to my increased involvement in the society.”

This follows the appointments of Pat Wallace and Peter Sydenham to the Committee earlier this year. Pat is a long-term resident of Midhurst, but Peter lives in Australia. His love affair with Midhurst began when he was evacuated here during the war, he makes frequent return visits and has written books about the history of the town and his own experiences. He co-edits Midhurst Magazine with Harvey Tordoff, who remains on the Committee as Vice-Chairman.
