NOTES

MEMBERSHIP is open to anyone interested in furthering the purposes of the Society which are primarily to help make Midhurst a better place to live, work, and enjoy with pride in its heritage.

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION
1. This is due annually on 1 January: (Please note that under the Society’s Constitution if anyone does not pay the annual subscription at the latest by 1st March then he/she ceases to be a member).
2. A reduced subscription is available for 'associate' members who are unable to attend meetings (due to frailty or distance) but who wish to remain in touch with the Society.

MIDHURST MAGAZINE: This is produced twice a year in Spring and Autumn and is offered for sale at £3 at various outlets in town. You can receive copies by pre-ordering at the special reduced price of £2.00 per copy (plus a contribution towards postage for members living outside Midhurst) .

TALKS: In Covid-free years we host regular talks, usually at 19.00 every third Thursday in the month, at The South Downs Memorial Hall in North Street, Midhurst. Parking outside. Talks are informative, entertaining, and cover a wide range of subjects – most often with a local connection. They provide an opportunity to chat with fellow members, speakers and members of the committee over a glass of wine or refreshment. We have held some very successful talks in the recent past and we hope to announce a new programme as soon as the hall is re-opened.   If we are allowed to hold talks in 2021, entry for members will be free of charge (normally £3). In the meantime, a variety of on-line presenters is being arranged.

INVOLVEMENT: We truly welcome feedback from our members. Let us know of any local issues that you think we should become involved in, by email, letter, or at one of our talks. As a member you will be adding your voice to an influential charitable organisation on issues of planning, amenities, and conservation in Midhurst and its surrounding villages. We actively encourage ‘mingling’ so bring along your friends to meet other like- minded people.

GIFT AID: As a charity this makes a real difference to our Society. If you are a UK taxpayer and complete the gift aid section we can recover tax at the current rate from HM Revenue & Customs at no extra cost to you.

DATA PROTECTION: We hold your details (name, postal address, telephone number, email address) for the express purpose of communicating with you about Society activities, including subscription renewals, newsletters, and notices of meetings and talks. We will also, from time, solicit your views on issues affecting Midhurst and surrounding villages. For those of you who have signed up for gift-aid we will share this information with HMRC (the Tax Man). We will not share your details with any other individual or organisation.
Your information will be stored in paper form (your completed membership application) and in digitised form (on computer equipment). Any such computer equipment will be password-protected. We will store this information for a maximum of three years and then it will be destroyed.
