Trotton

Set on the main road to Petersfield, a small village but with a splendid medieval bridge, which now has to suffer the wrath of the full traffic of the A272. West of the bridge is the outstanding church of St George. Beautifully floodlit at night, the church contains good quality medieval wall paintings and some exceptional memorial brasses. One of these is to Margret de Camoys and is the oldest brass effigy of a woman in the country dating from 1310. The 15th Century Camoys tomb is also very impressive.  Trotton was the birthplace of the Ballards Brewery, although now relocated.
