Community

The Midhurst Society is proud to support community projects within the town and these are a few examples where we have collaborated with other local groups.

In 2024, internationally renowned sculptor (and Midhurst Society president), Philip Jackson generously donated a statue of the Italian Poet, Writer and Philosopher Dante Alighieri to the town. The Midhurst Society collaborated with Midhurst Town Council to erect the statue by the South Pond. It has already become a much loved and sought out visitor attraction for the town.

We planted a tree at South Pond to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee and another outside Cowdray Ruins to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the visit of Queen Elizabeth I to Cowdray.

Working with the Midhurst Town Council we helped to create and fund new information boards at the Wharf and by the recently installed nearby WWII tank traps.

As you walk around the Town you will see a number of benches that have been provided by the Midhurst Society over the years and we funded the defibrillator outside the Tesco score in North Street which has already saved seven lives!
