Membership Benefits
The Midhurst Society organises regular talks and an annual publication called The Midhurst Journal, all of which are included in membership.
Non-members are very welcome at our events and may buy the Journal at the cover price of £9.50. Some of our talks are hugely popular and priority for those will be given to members.
Annual subscription
These are due on 1 January of each year. If you pay in October through to December, then your membership will continue through to the following December. Membership subscriptions for 2027 will be £25 for an individual member and £35 for a family (of any size). This ensures we can produce a high quality magazine and attract good speakers for our talks. There is no distinction between domestic and international membership, recognising that while overseas members are unable to attend the talks, the cost of postage of the journal is higher.
£25
Individual membership
Individual membership provides one copy of our annual publication and access to all of our talks for a single individual.
£35
Family membership
Family membership provides one copy of our annual publication and access to all of our talks for all members of a family who live at one address.
The Midhurst Journal
We produce a high quality publication every year featuring a range of articles relevant to the history and heritage of Midhurst and the surrounding villages. Articles vary in length from one to ten pages, based upon the subject matter and span prehistory through to the present day.
The 2026 issue will be published in the autumn. It will have a cover price of £9.50 and will be available at our meetings, from our online store and from a range of local stockists.
If you have a story that you would like to share within our magazine, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Talks
Talks usually take place at 7.30pm on the third Thursday of the month at the Memorial Hall in North Street, Midhurst. Entry is free for members and £5 for non-members (occasionally more for some special events).
Talks are intended to be informative, entertaining and to cover a wide range of subjects, usually with a local connection. They also provide a wonderful opportunity to chat with fellow members, speakers and Committee members in an informal environment over a glass of wine. We are booking our speakers for 2027 - watch this space!
There is limited parking at the Memorial Hall, but there is a large public car park on the other side of the road behind the bus stop. If you have special access requirements, please get in touch via events@midhurstsociety.org.uk
