Military History
The Midhurst Society is for everyone who is interested in the military history of Midhurst and the surrounding villages. In this section, we record the times that Midhurst and the surrounding areas have been caught up in major conflicts, including the Boer War and the two World Wars.
We are on a mission to discover the names and stories of those on the war memorials and other casualties with a connection to Midhurst and our surrounding villages. Much work was done during the centenary of the First World War particularly by the U3A and local historian Chris Deadman in Easebourne. For the first time we are making this research available from the same website.
Looking ahead there maybe an appetite to do the same level of research project as we reach the centenary of World War Two. In the meantime if you have researched the military history of your relatives in the Midhurst and District area, we would love to hear from you and post your research for a wider audience.and for the first time.
